Rain, rain go away was the chant of the day...and finally it worked! But not until all but the final matches were played! The Sally, a platform tennis tournament held to benefit the Sanctuary Shelter at Children's Village was held in drenching rain throughout the morning and drizzle and showers in the afternoon. Judy Arden and Susan Lovejoy defeated Louise Cash and Darlene Finnegan in the main draw final. Other winners were: Hogan-McMahon (1st Consolation), Palmedo-Simensky (1st Consolation Reprieve), Kaplan-Schwab (2nd Consolation), Cherna-Wachtenheim (2nd Consolation Reprieve) and Cromie-Saydah (16 Reprieve). Sharon Saunders and Jo Rogers reported that through entry fees, donations, raffles and silent auctions the event raised enough to cover more than one-third of the Sanctuary's annual needs.
