The Detroit invitational saw its largest NRT/PDQ draw in quite some. Teams came from Long Island, NY, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Cincinnati and Cleveland as well as Michigan and the Great Detroit area. The paddle hut was complete with Chili, beer and other treats as the spectators enjoyed watching a top flight championship. The finals saw Scott Estes and Casey Vens defeating Scott Mansager and Brian Compton 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.

The Detroit Invitational celebrated its 40th year! Nannie Maxwell, Patrick Mercier and Tom Dow worked hard to pull it all together, even finding a replacement partner mid-tournament due to an unfortunate injury! Chris Struck and Drew Eberly came out on top, defeating Marc Duvin & Kevin Owen in the finals. Cincinnati, OH 2009 Midwesterns began on Friday with the Women's Open and Men's 90+ play. Locals Heather Prop and Lynne Schneebeck (seeded #1) prevailed over the #2 seeds, local player Nancy Budde, who was paired with Eva Welsher (with whom she won the Detroit Invitational last month) to claim the Women's crown. The Men's final will feature top seeded Scott Mansager - Flip Goodspeed and #2 seeds Scott Estes - Mike Cochrane on Sunday.
