Join other juniors in the celebration of paddle known as the APTA Junior Nationals! This year's tournament will take place on Saturday, March 4. Play will be at various clubs throughout the area. Entry fee includes favors, lunch, tailgate party and loads of fun, as well as prizes for the National Champions. All participants are also invited to return on Sunday for drills and play with some of the best pros in the nation.

Ninety-four juniors gathered on the courts at Indian Trail Club on Saturday for the Indian Trail Club Junior Open, part of the Viking APTA Junior Tour. Following round robin play, the juniors entered bracket play. Champs were crowned in 7 divisions: 10 & Under Girls - Amelia Hughes & Grace Denious; 12 & Under Girls - Kelly Van Hoesen & Isabelle Sanchez; 15 & Under Girls - Tori Blundin & Stephanie Maluso; 10 & Under Boys - Charlie Stuhr & Trevor Ramirez; 12 & Under Boys - Peter Denious & Luke Crowley; 15 & Under Boys - William Cannon & Henry Fishman and 18 & Under Boys - Gardner Tregellas & Will Burger. New Canaan, CT It is often hard to fill a tournament that occurs after the National Championship - but Brad Easterbrook did not have this problem! The Connecticut Junior Open - sponsored by Viking - took place at New Canaan Field Club and other area clubs on Sunday with 40 teams of juniors competing for gold and silver medals in 3 age groups. As at all of the APTA Junior events, sportsmanship was abundant and the future of the sport was showcased and appeared to be bright. Congratulations to all who competed! See the list of medalists
It's a Record!
Franklin Lakes, NJ
Their run is officially over...but it was one for the record books! Corey Delaney and Nicky Ross, from Chatham, NJ accomplished something that no one else in the history of platform tennis has done: The pair claimed their sixth junior national title, at this year's APTA Junior Nationals. Additionally, they are the first team to win 5 consecutive gold medals in juniors and the first to win the 18 & Under category 4 times. Their other titles were in the Girls 12 & Under in 2006 and the Girls 14 & Under in 2008. The two play at the Noe Pond Club in Chatham. Nicky is currently a freshman at Washington and Lee University and Corey will be heading to Dartmouth in the fall.
The Patterson Club kicked off the Viking Junior Paddle Tour on November 13 with beautiful warm fall weather for the Patterson Junior Open. 32 teams entered the event for boys and girls in 10, 12, 14, and 18 and under divisions. Special thanks to The Patterson Club as the host club and to Weston Field Club, Wilton Riding Club, Country Club of Fairfield and Aspetuck Valley Country Club for the use of their paddle courts. Beacon Hill Junior Open

The Patterson Junior Open - Part of the APTA Junior Tour sponsored by Viking - was held on Sunday, November 14 at The Patterson Club and other Fairfield County clubs. There were 34 teams competing to determine 6 champions. Beach Tennis takes over Long Beach

This past weekend, beach-goers were buzzing about the new sport that has hit beaches all across the United States ... beach tennis. In Long Beach, N.Y. the third leg (of four) of the Long Island Tennis Magazine Challenge was played, as the top beach tennis players on the men's and women's side took part in Saturday's tournament, while on Sunday, an amateur tournament was played in addition to open play for juniors and mixed doubles teams looking to try out the sport for the first time. New Jersey Junior Open

The New Jersey Junior Open, the last junior event prior to Junior Nationals, was a great success! Teams from the tri-state area converged on Montclair Golf Club and area clubs for round robin competition followed by bracket play. Winners were crowned in seven different divisions.
