Atlantic is Classic
Essex Fells, NJ
The Atlantic Classic moved to a different spot on the calendar, and the fall weather was definitely a benefit for the spectators. The Saturday afternoon tailgate atmosphere was a perfect backdrop for some exciting, athletic play! New partnerships were on display as well. Bobo Delaney and Kerri Delmonico paired to take home the Women's crown with a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Andrea Noyes and Judy Takach. The Men's semifinals provided great Saturday evening entertainment as newly-paired Scott Estes and Nathan LeFevre withstood the test of current Nationals silver medalists Johan duRandt and Matt Porter by the score of 6-1, 7-5. This was followed by Tournament Director Drew Broderick and Chris Gambino topping Steve DeRose and Jon Lubow in an athletic, fast-paced 7-6, 6-2 match. Sunday morning's Men's final saw Broderick and Gambino prevail over Estes and LeFevre 7-6, 6-2.
The grades are in, and both the Patterson Club B and the new Patterson Club Men's Ranking tournament have been rated A+! With full 32-draws in each event, plenty of courts, great food and even better competition, Region 2 began the season with a rousing success. The Patterson Club staff had to bring in extra seating to accommodate the crowds who gathered to watch afternoon play. Tournament Directors Scott Slobin and Patricio Misitrano, both involved in afternoon play, had things so well organized that they could concentrate on their paddle.
