The Beacon Hill Club Women's B tournament was held on a glorious winter day, with a few twists...A last minute dropout at match time resulted in a last-minute substitute...and then another substitute for later in the morning...but everyone got to play! Congratulations to Colleen O'Reilly and Denice Donohoe, who "mastered" Angie Comiteau & Katie Bugliari in the finals and took home new Master Athletics paddles as prizes. Thirty-two teams entered the Beacon Hill Men's B tournament this weekend. At the end of play, experience won out. Todd Smith and Hans Tang topped Dan Urban and Ari Borinsky in a hard-fought final. This was the first tournament ever for Urban, and he showed a talent that will only improve as he plays more. Other bracket winners: Scott Roskell & Greg Morgan (consolation); Brian Combias & James Villari (reprieve); and Dave Lisooey & Doug Cundey (last chance). Draws

The paddle tournament season at Indian Trail Club began with a Men's B event on Sunday, October 16. A fun day of play saw Alex McDonald and Greg Morgan defeat Mike Fraser and Larry Friedman to claim the crown by a score of 6-3, 6-2. Dennis Cusack and John Holland topped Ben Durfee and Byron Maturo 6-3, 6-3 to claim the Conso title.

Juniors Beat the Snow
The Viking APTA Junior Tour Beacon Hill Junior Open took place on Sunday ahead of an impending snow storm...with all but one match decided before it was time to get on the road and head home! Champs were crowned in Girls 10s (Grace Denious & Amelia Hughes), Girls 12s (Kelly Van Hoesen & Isabel Sanchez), Girls 15s (Tori Blundin & Cami Haarmann), Girls 18s (Audrey Randazzo & Kendall Codey), Boys 10s (Griffin Cramer & Charles Brossy), Boys 15s (Jordan Beacham & Terrence Small) and Boys 18s (Griffin Kulick & Lukas Mahler). Teamwork was evident at the Beacon Hill Club Men's B tournament this weekend.
The 32 players were mostly from New Jersey, but the finalists all traveled from out of state. Congratulations to Max Gumport and Larry Garinger in their victory over John Oliva and Dan Gibralter. Upcoming tournaments feature something for everyone! LOB! is a women's charity tournament scheduled for October 12th. On the 13th, PIMPT Mixed tournament returns for another year.
The Milwaukee Open, a Men's & Women's National Ranking tournament, takes place October 19th & 20th and the Atlantic Classic, also a Men's & Women's National Ranking event, is the 20th & 21st.
TheIndian Trail Women's B and Beacon Hill Men's B are October 26th and 28th, respectively. And the Rochester Open, on the 27th, will hold Men's National and Regional Ranking, Women's Regional Ranking and Men's and Women's B events.

B's Kick Off the New Year
The Beacon Hill Women's B, one of a series of "B" tournaments throughout New Jersey, opened the 2012 tournament schedule. The chilly day was perfect for paddle and the competition served to warm up the ladies. Jill Collins and Regina Feeney teamed up to win their 3rd "B" tournament this season, this time over Laurie O'Leary and Karen Stahl, from Pennsylvania. Other winners were: Robin Brown and Kathryn Kislevitz (Consolation); Lynn Ivans and Melissa Rotatori (Last Chance) and Beth Madsen and Carol D'Alessandro (Reprieve). B is for Beacon
The Beacon Hill Men's B tournament returned for a second year and the competition and fun-factor were just as high as in the inaugural season! Jared Lissauer and Greg Weiss traveled from Westchester County to have home the title, topping Adam Drum and Len Gilbert in the finals. The Haines brothers, William and Andrew, were Consolation winners over Jeff Garibaldi and Roger Breene; Reprieve winners were Patrick Collins and Richard Mendolia; Last Chance went to Mark Polemeni and Keith Riabov; Reprieve Consolation to John Blundin and Robert Mannion and Hans Tang and Patrick Collins (another one!) claimed 3rd place.
