More than 100 mixed pairs participated in the APTA Mixed Nationals
this weekend at the Spring Brook Country Club in Morristown, NJ. Jim
& Myra McCready, Chris Jepson and their committee provided perfect
weather and an exciting three days of play in Husband/Wife, Senior
Husband/Wife and Open Mixed tournaments. read

On Friday, Marina
& Dave Ohlmuller returned to the Husband/Wife
competition after a year away and defeated last year’s champs,
Lauren & George Zink, to reclaim the crown.
Patti &
Mark Willis took the Senior Husband/Wife
gold medals home to Connecticut, defeating locals Katie & Mark
Bliss in the semifinals and Janice & Scott Estes in the finals.
Ginny & Mike O’Donnell, also locals, were the other semifinalists.

On Saturday,
8 area clubs hosted 60 pairs in the open
mixed competition. Bobo Delaney & John Milbank came out
on top to win their third Mixed crown. Their route to the title
featured a tough quarterfinal win over Dave Ohlmuller and Susie
Keane - one of the best matches of the season of any gender - and
a semifinal win over the sister-brother duo of Sheri Shea &
Scott Slobin. Their opponents in the finals, Patty Hogan & Anthony
Cosimano, prevailed in an amazing 27-25 tiebreaker in their semifinal
win over Cindy Prendergast & Mike Cochrane.
