PRESIDENTS CUP RULES and ELIGIBILITY

• Anyone who participates in PC must also play the Nationals. The only exception would be injury or illness the day of PC or the death of a family member. Teams not following this rule will forfeit points on offending court as well as all lower courts. Any team that plays PC and does not play Nationals cannot play PC the following year.

• Players finishing nationally ranked among the top eight pairs for the current season will be ineligible to play PC. Rankings after Short Hills will be used to determine PC eligibility.

• Format for play
• Each region fields 5 pairs, ranked in order of strength.
• Round robin play among the regions.
• Each match consists of 2 sets with a tie-breaker for the third set, if necessary.
• If a set is tied at 5-all, a tie-breaker will be played.
• No-ad scoring will be used.
• If there is a tie at the end of competition, head-to-head results will determine winner.
• All pairs must play all rounds of PC for any results to be valid. Any Region that does not play all matches on all courts cannot win the President’s Cup. This rule may not be waived or rescinded by a decision made the day of competition by local chairpersons.

• Scoring: 1 point is awarded for every match won. Scoring is cumulative, so every court counts.
