Kerri
Delmonico and Aila Main have not lost a match since their fifth
place finish at the Chicago Charities in November. They added
another title this weekend, winning the Short Hills Invitational,
and vaulted into second place on the rankings list heading into
Nationals. As usual, they won the hard way coming from a set
down in the semifinals and finals.
In the Men’s semifinals, Mike Cochrane, Mike Marino, Mike
Stulac and Bill Anderson played a first set tiebreaker that
had the crowd buzzing for hours. Stulac and Anderson managed
to prevail in the tiebreaker 27-25 – almost a full set’s
worth of extra points, and won the second set 6-3.
