Always looking for new opportunities and ways to promote platform, Jason Gray (Four Bridges CC, West Chester, OH) and Premier Platform Tennis (David Dodge) are working diligently to gain major recognition of Platform Tennis in the national and international arena. A recent opportunity that has been discussed for several months could become a reality. After a recent visit to Tennispalooza, the 2007 Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas, we have identified strong potential for involvement in the 2008 event. Again this dynamic duo, Jason and David, team up for huge promotion potential! Joining the team will be Barbara Zamsky (Premier Platform Tennis) for marketing and promotions, and Jean Kempner (PPTA) participating in the exhibitions and clinics.
Imagine…Platform Tennis broadcasted live during an international ATP Tour tennis event with top ranked players! This means big names (in the class of James Blake and the Bryan brothers), high attendance and hundreds of thousands of people watching Platform Tennis on cable! We were met with excitement, encouragement, and assurance from The Tennis Channel event organizers that Platform Tennis will be part of the 2008 event. Although we do not yet have a firm commitment at this time due to venue negotiations that must take place, we hope to hear definitively in the next few months. There would be televised matches with hours of Platform Tennis highlights on The Tennis Channel, and major exposure for our sport. Our goals are to increase exposure of Platform Tennis to the masses by raising the level of awareness and building enthusiasm for Platform Tennis.
We are committed to growing the play of Platform Tennis. New court sales are on the increase so the sport is definitely growing in popularity; but, exposure like this could help launch Platform Tennis into a more recognized tournament sport. There is also great potential for crossover from tennis and paddle tennis players looking for a little more action in their game.
We can be a team together. With approximately 7,500 of you reading this Platform Tennis magazine, we can be a force with your input, ideas, and our implementation. How would YOU promote this exciting sport to gain membership and status? Send your ideas to premierplatform@comcast.net or 610.525.1822 to help gain popularity in the “tennis” world. Start thinking and communicating to us (think outside the court!) and there may be a contest down the road, retroactive of course, so your ideas NOW will count towards rewards later!!!
Stay tuned for updates…
