The Greenwich Country Club is pleased to continue as host of the 2011 Eastern States Singles Platform Tennis Championships
As the site of several past National Championships and the last four Eastern States Singles, we are excited to take the next step in the renewal of singles platform tennis with the expansion of the National ranking tournament to a 64-person draw and the expansion of the Eastern States Women's Platform Tennis Championships to 16. The tournament draws players from a number of states and has included players from age 14 to their late-50s. The draw includes nationally ranked players as well as those who make their mark in their club scrambles and local team matches. The tournament is unique in its broad mix of players and this universal appeal is one of the tournament'skey attributes. Singles has a long history in the sport of platform tennis with the first National Championships being played alongside of the first doubles championships in 1938. The National Singles Championships were last played in 1999 and with this fifth anniversary of the Eastern States, we and the APTA are preparing for the return of the National Singles Championships to the tournament calendar. Our efforts are being supported by a number of organizations, including the APTA, leading platform tennis manufacturers, a number of the leading doubles players in the country, past Singles Champions, and others who appreciate the excitement, athleticism, pace and enjoyment of singles paddle. Once you have played it, you will truly grow to love it – it also may be the best thing that ever happened to your doubles game. From top tournament players to local club athletes, the Eastern States is the perfect start to another exciting season.

We are pleased to welcome back Center Court Tennis of New Canaan, CT as one of our primary sponsors. Center Court Tennis is a full service racquets shop located in the New Canaan Indoor Tennis Center and is run by the tournament’s long-time supporter, Nick Bergman. We are pleased to welcome Prince to our sponsorship list this year. Viking had been a founding sponsor when the Eastern States began and we are happy to continue our relationship with Viking’s new home. Wilson, who has been a key sponsor for us the last two years, will be with us again this year and the efforts of Sarah Maynard have been greatly appreciated. Both of these firms are tops in our sport and having them by our side this year is a testament to the importance of Singles to our sport's future, and the commitment these two great organizations have for platform tennis and those who love to play it.
Additional sponsors are expected to be announced shortly, and there are still some sponsorship opportunities available. Please contact Roger Knight if you have any interest.
