One of the
highlights of the tourney featured New England’s “King
of Paddle” – Rich Hornidge coming out of retirement
to play with Rich Morrell. The semi-final matches produced 2 familiar
teams to play for “all the marbles”. Bill Anderson and
Ross Smith outplayed Chuck Poe and Ken Walker 6-3, 6-1 in the first
semi-final match. In the other semi, Jim Greenho and Will Kelly
lost to Greg Bennett and Rob Pierce 6-3, 6-2. Anderson/Smith dominated
play by not losing a set the entire tournament. They beat Bennett/Pierce
6-2, 6-2 in the final.
Many thanks
to Gil Keegan, who worked very hard in putting together a great
tourney with favors, prizes and a very good lunch.
